Who we are

The Coherence Index (Indico) is an initiative led by the Spanish Development NGO Coordinator, in collaboration with REEDES and Common Future.

Indico has been designed to explore, analyse, and compare 153 countries in terms of how coherent their policies are with sustainable development. It is a practical, robust, and rigorous tool that encourages reflection, analysis and research applied and committed to urgent global transformation.

A multidisciplinary team of researchers (sociologists, economists, political scientists) was involved in building the Index, with the collaboration of teams specialising in statistics, information technology, graphic design, and communication.

This was the team that built it:

  • Research coordinator: Mª Luisa Gil Payno
  • Research team: Mª Luisa Gil Payno and Pablo José Martínez Osés
  • Communication: Yolanda Polo Tejedor and Quepo
  • Editing and Graphic Design / Editing and Design: Quepo
  • Statistics service: Smart&city
  • Web development: Neosoft

This work has been organized by the Coherence Index joint committee. We would like to especially thank the people on that committee who have been major players in guiding and building it: Mª Luisa Gil Payno, Chus González García, María González López, Marco Gordillo Zamora, Marta Iglesias López, Nacho Martínez Martínez, Pablo Martínez Osés, Isabel Miguel Emperador, Lucía Rodríguez Donate, Aranzazu Romero Baigorri, Maite Serrano Oñate, and Antonio Sianes Castaño.

We would also like to express our gratitude to the people and entities that have generously participated in the process, made it more robust and adapted it to today’s context.

This work was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) through a nominative grant awarded to the Spanish Development NGO Coordinator for fiscal year 2023, and to support from the Secretary of State for the 2030 Agenda for the project “For a common future: Social mobilization and political advocacy for a transformative 2030 Agenda”, granted to the Coordinating Body. Its content is the sole responsibility of the authors and does not necessarily reflect the position or opinion of AECID or the Secretariat of State for the 2030 Agenda.
